Atmanirbhar Bharat or Self-Reliant India signifies the creation of a helping hand to the whole world. The objective is to turn a possibility into an opportunity. It is an attempt to find India’s legitimate place in a rapidly changing world.
It will make the process of globalization human-centric and aims at shifting the path from self-centered to self-reliant.
To quote the government, Aatm Nirbhar Bharat stands on the following five pillars
- The economy which brings about a quantum jump and not incremental change
- Infrastructure which should become the identity of India
- Technology-driven arrangements and system
- Growing demand of the nation whereby the demand and supply chains should be utilized to full capacity.
- Vibrant demography being the source of our self-reliant India.
Innovation of the people, by the people, and for the people
With our present demographic pyramid, India has the potential to transform its economy and thereby further speed up the pace of development. However, as a country of examples, India must ‘grow responsibly’. With rapid industrialization and mass-scale urbanization, we face the dichotomy of being a member of the Paris agreement with a commitment towards environment conservation. Thus, sustainability must be one of the key driving forces to lead the trajectory towards the growth of the country.
While India is witnessing a growing consciousness towards sustainable consumption there lies a number of demographic challenges ahead. Air pollution and traffic congestion’s impact on the environment is a worrying trend that needs to be addressed through technology. The future of mobility is Smart, Shared, Sustainable, Small, and Solo. Electric vehicles have a big role in this transition. Hence, the idea of smaller and efficient clean energy vehicles is an obvious route that should be chosen.
Another important development to be taken into account is that of the sharing economy. As people’s access to the internet is growing, we are witnessing the sharing economy boom. The desire for ownership is at its tipping point and the sharing economy is the antidote for that. The sharing economy has the potential to address some of the biggest challenges faced by the major Indian cities today.
Ride the Change
What started as an initiative to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in Indian cities, is now redefining UMaaS – Urban Mobility as a Service in India. Our bikes are revolutionizing the way people commute. The growing popularity of the sharing economy is based on the 3 As of modern living – Affordability, Accessibility, and Availability of services for the good of all. Thus we have ensured that our rental bikes are available round the clock to the riders at accessible locations in an affordable manner.
We have developed a vertical stack needed to run our EV fleet. From design and ownership of the assets to charging the batteries to on-ground operations, Yulu has a little dependency on external factors.
Yulu uses IoT, Machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence to deliver a seamless experience via a user-friendly app. Using IoT as the backbone of operations, the vehicles can be rented seamlessly on a pay-per-use basis. Users can book a ride through the app, and the smart bikes can be unlocked via QR codes. Yulu operates on a ‘virtual docking’ method, where its Miracles can be picked up or returned by users from its network of preferred parking spots called Yulu Zones.
Apart from the entire technology infrastructure, we have also indigenously created a unique battery-swapping network by placing its proprietary IoT-enabled charging box called ‘Yulu Max’ at hundreds of mom-n-pop stores across our operational areas to decrease the turnaround time and offer a seamless riding experience to our users. Furthermore, Anish Sharma, Product Manager IoT and Charging Infra added, at Yulu, we believe in innovation that is technologically driven and intelligently managed. We have developed almost our entire service in-house so that it can be customized to cater to the special needs of Indian riders. It gives us a sense of pride that the Yulu Miracle which is designed specifically for shared mobility will be manufactured from scratch in India with all Indian components very soon.
Yulu is all about a simple solution to complex urban problems. We believe in sustainable living for a healthier environment. Our single-seater Miracle aims to provide self-reliance to the riders by offering them a safe and hassle-free alternative to commute around. We believe self-reliance is the only road to true freedom. So next time you go solo on a Yulu, know you are riding towards freedom in the true sense.
