The future of mobility is knocking on India’s doors.
Electric vehicles are soon going to be dominating Indian roads. With the fast implementation of sustainable and environment-friendly initiatives, we at Yulu are pivoting to adopt global emerging trends and replace conventional vehicles with modern smart & sustainable ones like the Miracle. India’s landscape is slowly getting a reality check on the current pollution and traffic situation and needs an overhaul.
As one of India’s leading Urban Mobility service providers since 2017, we have risen as a top solution for affordable, scalable and shareable commuting, as an answer to this problem, and as a growth driver for India’s economy. With about 3 million users currently, we are expanding our services and we aim to create sustainable cities by completely transforming the way people commute, through the integrated use of IoT, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Yulu’s Unique Value Proposition
Most electric vehicles are targeted at personal use. Other than that, Yulu aims to focus on shared mobility, sustainable commuting, first & last mile connectivity. White-collar employees use a Yulu vehicle in the morning for the work commute or college students for commuting to college. The same vehicle is typically used by gig workers during the afternoon and late evening food delivery. Yulu’s services are now extended to shared mobility players like logistic companies, delivery partners, food delivery aggregators, to name a few. This segment is already in the works to phase out the use of ICE or internal combustion engine vehicles and make the switch to electric vehicles.
While this switch aims to turn businesses more profitable, it also has environmental benefits and benefits like affordability and accessibility. Food aggregators like Zomato and Swiggy are excited to start switching to electric modes of travel with at least 10% of their delivery fleets. While roads are full of 2 wheelers used by food aggregators, we decided to extend our services to them for their comfort and to minimize pollution.
The electric vehicle segment also has immense governmental support; almost all state governments across the country have already set up policy frameworks that include tax exemptions and subsidies in manufacturing and purchasing electric vehicles. States like Delhi are also pushing start-ups to switch to electric delivery modes. Delhi’s policy already recommends that businesses involved in e-commerce, logistics and delivery, transition at least 50% of their delivery fleets to electric by 2023, followed by a complete 100% switch by 2025. While food delivery providers have already been using Yulu Miracle, we see this as an opportunity for a greater partnership with them.

In an interview with ET Now on the show ‘StartUp Central’, we found out that India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, Flipkart, is said to deploy more than 35,000 electric vehicles in its supply chain in its quest to reach 100% mobility by 2025, the company reported on Wednesday.
Mr. Amit Gupta, the founder and CEO of YULU, added that India is getting a good foundation in place while the numbers are very small but we have started seeing in certain segments that includes moving people for short distances with Yulu.
“There are a couple of challenges to work on but we believe India is finally ready to electrify it’s mobility.” he added.

Yulu aims to find its place as India’s most convenient answer to this shared mobility model. Yulu’s features include –
- Using proprietary IoT enabled charging boxes, available at most mom-and-pop stores, thus doing away with the requirement of charging stations.
- Efficient pick-up and drop through the Yulu app with virtual docking stations, doing away with the need for parking infrastructure.
- Asset safety from theft.
- Built for Indian roads without reduction or depletion in asset quality over time.
The Yulu Factor
With a huge boost in e-commerce and delivery aggregation, road commute, and movement are at an all-time high, making it the perfect time for electric vehicles to disrupt the market. From advantages in mileage to cost and AI integration, most logistics and delivery companies are looking to go green by switching their delivery fleets to an electric mode. We at Yulu see this as an opportunity to expand our services.

The perfect solution for gig workers in the delivery sector
Another huge advantage of using our vehicles is towards workers in the delivery and aggregator sectors who do not have access to personal bikes or vehicles, and require cost-effective alternatives. Yulu is an excellent affordable solution for such agents who can rent our services at negligible costs, commute safely and freely by not being stuck in traffic for long, and they don’t need to have a driving license.
Our efficient operating strategy in the EV sector is aimed at making the company a dominant player among shared mobility companies as well as in other countries through a joint partnership mechanism. With strong innovations backing the service, we aim to positively impact India’s micro-mobility business.
