The ability to move from A to B without a hurdle is ‘Freedom of Mobility’. The free-flow of transportation is vital to keep the engine of the country’s economy running.
In a world of rapid urbanization, there’s a need for environmentally sustainable, easy to use and socially inclusive transportation, without hampering the commuters’ health & safety. Managing the surge in urban traffic, noise and air pollution is critical for improving the livability of Indian cities. However, reversing car-dependency, a ‘major culprit’, is a humongous task; it demands redesigning and re-allocation of road space between modes.
Ensuring the efficient distribution of space is a long-haul and a big-budget goal that the Indian government is actively working on, while simultaneously encouraging citizens to use alternatives to private cars under its ‘Smart Cities Mission’; and gradually progress towards building a society with a reduced car-dependency culture.
In a major push to revamp the transportation sector in India, NITI Aayog, a policy think tank of the Government of India, hosted the Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’ – with the intent to ‘integrate India’s efforts around sustainable development, urbanization, clean energy and more, through a unique lens of mobility.
“Mobility is a crucial driver of the economy. Better mobility reduces the burden of travel and transportation and can boost economic growth,” said Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to industry leaders.
The summit acted as a playground for the industry to discuss ‘barriers, enablers and opportunities for transport markets, such as – low emission vehicles, fuel alternatives and intelligent transport’.
Three years after the marquee event was held that set India’s transportation industry’s tone, Yulu has emerged as a beacon of hope and change for the country’s micro-mobility sector.
Yulu is actively contributing towards building a ‘New India’ with the PM’s vision of 7Cs at the core of its business model.
- Common: In this pandemic period, mass public transportation has been taken aback, with a high probability of the services becoming super-spreaders. Passenger safety cannot be compromised, nor does the recovery of economic activities, which requires people to travel for work.
Every Yulu bike is sanitized, cleaned and ready for a safe commute. Although a ‘Common’ facility, a Yulu bike turns ‘exclusive’ to each user once hired, serving as a ‘personal’ vehicle to arrive at your destination without the worry of physical contact with other travellers.
All you have to do is make a smarter decision of travelling solo with ‘Yulu’ – your trusted companion.
- Connected: ‘In this digital era of algorithms, hashtags and followers, Yulu knows the true importance of human connection’.
The Yulu app’s user-friendly design makes it easier than hiring an auto-rickshaw. Available for iOS and Android users, a Yulu Miracle can be swiftly unlocked through a QR code from the nearest Yulu zone and returned at a designated Yulu parking spot.
- Convenient: Booking a bike on a Yulu app means ‘cost convenience – compared to maintaining and driving a fuel engine car. For instance, making e-payments is a faster process, plus it fetches you a host of rewards in your wallet such as ‘Saver packs’. Likewise, the compact design of the e-bike makes parking effortless and free of cost. When you proceed with your travel on a Yulu bike, you benefit from an economical, comfortable ride and reserve your energy for more productive tasks.
- Congestion-free: ‘Long journeys can have small beginnings’. For frequent inter-city train commuters- Yulu acts as a feed-in transport.
- Charged: With its proprietary, IoT enabled charging box and a unique battery-swapping method, Yulu puts the passenger in a commanding position for a hassle-free commute. The battery level is indicated on the digital screen, and the charging is fully taken care of by the operations team giving more power to the end-user.
- Clean: To complement India’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions, Yulu has already become the nation’s largest EV-led micro-mobility platform. Operational in 7 cities with a fleet of 18,000 vehicles and with its customer base of 2.5mn users, has managed to save 2.3bn grams of carbon emissions to date. Thus, Yulu is making travel more efficient and eco-friendly with ‘You’ as a customer being the change-maker by doing ‘Clean Commutes’.
- Cutting-edge: Yulu is a practical example of innovative technology that solves real-life problems. It is meant for varied age groups and cuts across all economic sections of society. ‘Smarter’ yet ‘Simpler to operate’, ‘Modern’, but ‘Easy on the pocket’ and finally, ‘Compact’ but ‘Powerful’ enough to fulfill mobility requirements of a short commute, first and last-mile needs.
At the MOVE Summit, the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi categorically mentioned that “I am convinced that India is best placed globally, to be an early mover in the Mobility Economy”.
Paraphrasing the PM’s statement, “Yulu being the first mover in the micro-mobility segment, the brand is well poised to attain exponential growth with its trajectory centered on the PM’s vision of 7Cs”.
Yulu is an essential pillar of the broad-based ‘Mobility Economy’ that provides a better quality of life and tackles climate change to a reasonable extent.
The 7Cs of marketing in this changed business environment post-COVID-19 has undoubtedly taken a new meaning. ‘Modi-nomics’, therefore, is a guiding light to bring about a paradigm shift in the transportation industry.
